Unnecessary duplicates carry no operational value but still require maintenance. They also confuse operational staff and corrupt total spend reporting.

The most common reason for duplicates appearing in the vendor file is that the supplier has changed the name; consequently, it was not found when the same supplier was requested under the new name. Therefore, another record was created. Datanovel finds such duplicates and recommends the deactivation procedure.

Datanovel also finds suppliers with outdated legal name and therefore under the risk of being duplicated – updating legal name for such suppliers is recommended.
